Add and import backlinks
Published 2 min read
Backlinks holds every link that points to your sites: links you add yourself, links from your deals, and links you bought in the marketplace. Swappsy opens each linking page once a day and tells you when something changes.
Add a backlink
- Click Add backlink.
- Placement URL: the page where your link sits.
- Target URL: the page or site your link points to.
- Anchor text (optional): leave it empty and Swappsy reads it from the page.
- Type: Do-follow, No-follow, Sponsored or UGC. Swappsy reads the link on the page and fills this in for you; change it if something else was agreed.
- Particular: Free, Exchange or Paid.
- Partner (optional): who placed the link.
The page is checked as soon as you save. If the Type on the page isn't the one you chose, the link shows as Doesn't match.
Why the Type matters
Do-follow and No-follow links are priced differently, so Swappsy keeps the Type you agreed and warns you if the page gives something else. A No-follow agreement is met by any link that passes no ranking credit (nofollow, sponsored or ugc). Do-follow, Sponsored and UGC must match exactly.
Import a list
- Click Import backlinks.
- Paste one link per line, or upload a CSV, TSV or TXT file (up to 5 MB).
- Optionally set a Target URL for lines that have none.
Each line is the Placement URL, then the Target URL, the anchor text and the Type, separated by commas, tabs or semicolons:
https://partner.com/post, https://yoursite.com/, best tools, dofollow
Exports from Ahrefs, Semrush and Search Console work too, including their TRUE/FALSE "Nofollow" column. Links without a Type get the one found on the page, marked Detected until you open the link and save it. Links already in your list are skipped.
Details, partner email and notes
Click Details on a link to edit it, add the partner's email for renewals, record the link you gave back in an exchange, set a term and keep invoices. Terms and renewals and invoices have their own guides.
Export
Export CSV downloads every backlink with its Type, status, term and what you paid, for spreadsheets, clients and accounting.
