How a deal works

Updated 2 min read

A deal starts when a request is accepted. Open it from Deals.

  1. Place the link to your partner's site on one of your verified sites, with the agreed Type.
  2. Paste the page in Your link and click Verify. Swappsy checks it right away and tells you exactly what it found.

When your partner sends the page where they placed your link, paste it under their link and click Check page, or use the one-click check next to a page they paste in the chat.

Completion

When both links are live, the deal completes by itself and both partners earn points. From then on, Swappsy checks both links every day. A link only counts if it's the deal's Type. If it isn't, both partners see Doesn't match and the deal waits until the link is changed. If a link stops matching after the deal is complete, both partners get an alert and the deal stays complete.

Deadlines and reminders

The sides take turns. The person who sent the request places their link first, within the post's turnaround. Once their page is in, the post owner gets the same number of days to place theirs. Either side can place early.

Your part is done once you paste the page with your link, even before Swappsy's checker confirms it, so a slow or unreadable page doesn't make you late. If the checker can't find the link after several tries, or it isn't the agreed Type, you still owe it.

Swappsy reminds the side still owing a link halfway, a day before, on the day and a day late. Placing it on time earns 5 points; missing the deadline costs 10. You can nudge a late partner once every 2 days.

Closing a deal

  • Ask to close this deal: if you both agree, it closes and counts against neither of you.
  • Close as not delivered: available when you've placed your link and your partner hasn't placed theirs 3 days after their deadline. It counts against them, not you.
  • Closed by itself: if no link is placed by 3 days after the first deadline, the deal closes. It counts against the side that was to go first, never against the side that was waiting.

Strikes

Removing your link within 90 days of a completed deal is a strike. From the third strike, each new one hides you from partner search for 30 days. Keeping links live for 90 days earns points instead.

Term and rating

Set an optional term for both links in the Term box (more), and rate your partner when the deal completes: ratings show on their public page.
